Royal Baby Fever

royal baby

I am always on the lookout for things to blog about. Amusing things. Luckily I live in a country whose media offer me a plethora of things to laugh about pretty much each day.

In fact I needn’t look much further than a certain media publication, but more about that later. If I ever see something I think is particularly funny I usually take a screenshot of whatever it is and save it for blog fodder should I need it some day.

Anyway today I was going through it all trying to clear out my files and I stumbled across a heap of stuff about the Royal baby which I never got around to blogging about.

I’m a recent addition to the Royal family’s fan base, it’s hard not to fall totally in love with them when you live in London. I’ve been here for the Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Jubilee and now that the royal baby is on its way I’m completely hooked.

To say British media hype has reached fever pitch over Kate’s pregnancy is an understatement. They are still falling over themselves trying to get a royal pregnancy scoop and because obviously the baby is yet to be born, there isn’t much to report (except the usual daily blurb about what maternity outfit Kate wore where). However apparently that doesn’t matter in Britain though because if there isn’t anything newsworthy they just make something up.

I’m also a little embarrassed to admit that I read the Daily Mail every single day. Sometimes several times a day. Most intelligent people will claim they never read it because it’s tabloid trash but you can’t help but get sucked into its juicy exaggerated sensationalism and pretty much everyone I talk to about it secretly nods when you ask them if they read it.

As most of you live in Australia or the US, I thought I’d share with you whats been going on in the UK press regarding Kate’s pregnancy. Prime examples of what happens when printed media goes mad.

It all started out innocently enough, although I can’t even think of 10 things I could say about a fetus that is yet to be born, let alone them being the ‘top 10’.

Going by the date on this article it was two days after they announced the pregnancy, yet there was already speculation about where baby will go to school and a lengthy discussion over whether it will go to Eton. How do we know Kate isn’t going to turn out to be an earth mother who home schools?

Day 3 talked about whether or not the royal fetus will cope being a classless sovereign. Poor baby, how on earth will it survive having a commoner for a mother? How dreadfully sad for it.

Day 4 and we already know what it looks like. Seeeeeeriously disturbing, I mean COME ON.

Day 5 and we got a minute by minute breakdown of the Duchesses stay in hospital. FFS.

And my favourite ..

I’m sure she’ll heed all of Snookie’s advice. A royal snookie clone, just what the House of Windsor needs.
